Sandy Creek offensive lineman Chandler Tuitt enjoys playing on the defensive line, but is an SEC offensive line prospect. He told the AJC on Monday that Georgia offensive line coach Rob Sale feels he might be able to play guard or tackle on Saturdays.
“They said that I am what they are looking for,” Tuitt said. “I played guard and tackle when I was at their 7-on-7 camp. He said if I can keep my feet moving and get very good with my hands then I can be a player at either guard or tackle.”
The budding artist has also drawn up a unique plan for his commitment decision.
“Next week,” he said. “I’ll put my commitment out on Twitter. I don’t know what day yet. … I am going to go visit this certain place one more time, but I am going to keep it on the down low for now.”
The 6-foot-4, 289-pounder said that Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee are recruiting him the hardest. That mystery school he plans to visit one more time before his decision would be among those schools, he said.
Tuitt grew up an Alabama fan, but said that that program has not offered him a scholarship. He did say that he’s fine with all the schools that have offered him up to this point.
“It makes sense for me to decide next week because it is the best time,” Tuitt said. “Everyone is getting close to all the offers going away and everybody is getting done and filled up. Next week seems like a great time. I was trying to wait until my first game,, but all of this is starting to get to be a pain in the butt to figure out.”
He aims to pursue a business degree and also try to study art in college. He’s a see-it and then draw-it type of sketch artist. He hasn’t gotten to three-dimensional models as of yet, though. He endured three concussions during his freshman season, but has been able to keep those in line with good practice habits and wearing a protective padded sleeve over his helmet in practices and summer camp drills.
“I’ve never had a leader,” Tuitt said. “Every time a coach would ask me something about that I never had a leader or a top two or three. I just knew what schools I liked right there and then at that time.”
