As discussed on today’s AJC Atlanta Forward page, planning is under way to build out MARTA rail through North Fulton, all the way to Windward Parkway. A half-penny sales tax increase, ostensibly to pay for the expansion, was shot down in the recent legislative session, but officials are looking for ways to raise funds to pay for the estimated $2 billion extension. State Senator Brandon Beach, R-Alpharetta, said some insiders have traveled to Washington D.C. to enlist the aid of Georgia’s congressional leaders. And local counties could band together for a smaller version of the TSPLOST referendum that was voted down in 2012. What do you think? Should MARTA expand north?
