Some Lantana residents are quite upset after finding out that Vanilla Ice and his crews removed trees from a property he bought on Hypoluxo Island. Rob Van Winkle, AKA Vanilla Ice, is filming his television show The Vanilla Ice Project at the site. He bought the property, will renovate it, and then will sell it.

One of the trees that were removed is a Banyan tree, according to town officials. While several residents attended a Town Council meeting last week and said they were upset the tree was removed, town officials said the removal was allowed and they had a permit to do so.

But there were also live oak trees that were removed, which isn’t allowed.

Town Manager Debbie Manzo said code enforcement issued a violation.

“They’ll have to go before code enforcement,” said Manzo.
