Sunday’s few fair-weather clouds might threaten rain, but the week ahead trends toward sunshine.

Wind from the east brings metro Atlantans a bump in humidity from moisture in the air, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Temperatures at 1 p.m. Sunday were 71 degrees in Atlanta, 69 degrees in Blairsville and 71 degrees in Griffin.

On Monday and Tuesday a slim chance of showers is expected, but the week through Wednesday should be filled with plenty of warm sunshine.

Wednesday’s 20 percent chance of isolated showers turns to a 40 percent chance of showers and storms by Thursday, Monahan said. That chance of isolated storms drops to 30 percent on Friday.

Sunday’s high of 78 was expected to push temperatures close to 80 degrees by 4 p.m. and the expected high on Monday is 80 degrees. The warm temperatures increase to an expected high of 83 degrees Tuesday and hover in the low 80s all week.
