As the calendar says “spring forward” into daylight saving time, the forecast for metro Atlanta and North Georgia tells of wintry weather.
Snow is possible overnight in the North Georgia mountain areas, Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
“We could potentially see about an inch of snow on some of the grassy surfaces in North Georgia,” Monahan said.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for North Georgia for Saturday night through 10 a.m. Sunday.
The advisory also says “spotty slick roads” are possible from late Saturday into Sunday morning.
The white stuff probably won’t fall on metro Atlanta, but there still could be rain overnight and into Sunday. Chance of rain is at 60 percent Sunday.
The precipitation should bring cooler temperatures. Saturday’s high is expected to be 60, and Sunday’s temp should top out at 54 in Atlanta.
Shortly before 4 p.m., temps were at 58 in Atlanta, 63 in Griffin and 43 in Blairsville.
(And since we brought it up earlier, daylight saving time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday. Set your timekeeping devices ahead an hour.)
