Metro Atlanta has been gifted warm weather and rain free conditions this week. But the dry part could change as early as Thursday, when there’s a 20 percent chance of rain.
High pressure, off the East Coast, is in the right position to bring in some southeasterly and southernly winds, increasing moisture and temperatures.
“And then as we get into late tonight, some clouds develop over far northeast Georgia and spread across the metro area,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said Tuesday. “So we could be waking up to a few areas of some drizzle in some spots tomorrow, but then the clouds will dissipate. We’ll see partly cloudy skies, and it warms up.”
Temperatures will stay above average for several days.
They were 73 degrees in Atlanta, 67 degrees in Blairsville and 74 degrees in Griffin just before 2:20 p.m.
They will reach 76 degrees by 3 p.m. and stay in the mid-70s.
Temps are expected to climb to 77 degrees by Friday, when there is a slight chance of showers, Minton said.
There is a 60 percent chance of rain Saturday and Sunday.
