Expect more frigid morning temperatures over the next few days - and a few snow flurries in the mountains - but the afternoons will gradually warm in metro Atlanta, according to the latest weather outlook.
The coldest temperatures of the season early Monday prompted the City of Atlanta to issue winter safety tips and to continue operating a warming center at the Old Adamsville Recreation Center, located at 3404 Delmar Lane.
Needless to say, it’s been a bit chilly.
Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said lows will hover at about 20 degrees through Wednesday, with highs at 40 degrees — about 10 degrees below average for this time of year. The average high is 52 degrees, and the average low is 34 degrees, Monahan said.
Folks in far north Georgia may see a little bit of the white stuff, Monahan said.
“There’s a cold front coming tomorrow afternoon, and with it we may squeeze out a few flurries or snow showers in the mountains, but that’s about it,” Monahan said.
Temperatures are expected to warm back up into the 50s late this week, with rain in the forecast by Friday.
