Sunny, warm weather has pushed aside the rain from earlier this week and will rule the rest of the weekend. But caution is still advised for outdoor activities Saturday afternoon.

That’s because a Code Orange air quality alert has been issued, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Meteorologist Brian Monahan said people with respiratory issues should avoid prolonged outdoor activities Saturday.

Active children and adults and people with conditions such as asthma should reduce lengthy or strenuous exertion outdoors.

An air quality alert is issued when ground-level ozone levels are expected to reach values of 101 to 150 on a 500-point scale called the Air Quality Index, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Otherwise, conditions should be warm and mostly dry through the weekend in metro Atlanta.

Saturday’s high is expected to hit 86, with no chance of rain, Monahan said. Sunday’s high is forecast at 88, with rain chance at 20 percent.

“Sunday could see an isolated shower south of I-20,” Monahan said.

Shortly before 2 p.m., temps were at 81 in Atlanta, 86 in Griffin and 79 in Blairsville.

Beautiful and sunny for your Saturday afternoon
