Plenty of sunshine will again push temperatures into the 80s Monday in metro Atlanta, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Easterly winds will pick up about noon, and a few high clouds will linger on the Southside, Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.

But the main features in the forecast are sunshine and dry heat.

The Category 4 Hurricane Matthew that could bring 130 mph winds to Haiti and dump as much as 40 inches of rain in some areas of the Dominican Republic and Haiti won't bring as much as a few sprinkles to metro Atlanta.

“We really are in desperate need of rain,” Minton said. “There just isn’t any coming our way anytime soon.”

Temperatures were 76 degrees in Atlanta, 62 in Blairsville and 76 in Griffin at 11:50 a.m.

Temps will increase to a high of 84 degrees by 5 p.m., Minton said.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the 80s all week, Channel 2 reported.
