OK, it’s officially cold in metro Atlanta, and it’s likely gonna stay that way through Sunday night.

Temperatures are expected to drop again overnight amidst a clear sky and light winds, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Some parts of metro Atlanta could see temperatures in the 30s, he said.

A slight warm-up is expected by Tuesday and Wednesday, though.

North Georgians woke up to temperatures in the low 40s Sunday, the coldest morning in Atlanta since April 17, Monahan said.

The bright side is that Sunday brought plenty of sunshine, and temperatures rose into the low 60s.

It was a “beautiful fall morning,” Monahan said, noting that Sunday morning was several degrees colder than Saturday morning.

A freeze warning was in effect Sunday morning for several counties at the northern Georgia border, according to Channel 2.

Drivers who want to avoid traffic Sunday afternoon should probably avoid Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where Atlanta United will take on Chicago Fire at 3 p.m. Traffic will likely pick up around game time and after the match.

Georgia Department of Transportation workers will close three lanes on I-285 in DeKalb County in conjunction with the Flat Shoals Bridge reconstruction project, according to a news release. Work was scheduled to begin Friday evening. The closures will allow crews to pour concrete in preparation for installing lights on the road.
