Call it the never-ending summer.
Temperatures on Sunday are forecast to again stretch into the upper 80s, but there’s a refreshing caveat: Sunday could be the last 90-degree day of the year, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
“It’s going to be another hot day today,” Monahan said.
If Atlanta reaches 90 degrees, that would tie the record for the hottest Oct. 7, set in 1884.
There is a slight possibility for isolated showers in North Georgia on Sunday, with partly cloudy skies and a chance of precipitation at 20 percent.
The average final 90° day of the year is typically September 8th...instead we're tying records of 91° October 4th! The ridge will keep us HOT and dry through Saturday. Above-average temps are forecast to stick around at least through mid-October. pic.twitter.com/48Rve0sFxs

Thanks to clouds and a tropical depression currently forming in the Caribbean, temperatures should drop during the week, reaching the low 80s by Wednesday and Thursday.
The likely tropical storm, however, will bring heavy rain and winds to metro Atlanta later this week.
GETTING COOLER: The temperature trend is cooler as we head into the work week -- that's largely because of clouds & rain moving in with Tropical Depression 14 (soon to be Michael!).

Behind it, looks like we're set up for a pattern change. On Ch. 2 now. pic.twitter.com/A0HRTznoDe
Meanwhile, Atlanta drivers face another baseball-related traffic bottleneck on Sunday night.
The Atlanta Braves, facing elimination from the National League playoffs, return to SunTrust Park in Cobb County to face the Los Angeles Dodgers. Game time is 8:07 p.m.
It’s the first postseason game in the park’s young history, so expect traffic delays near the park for hours before and after the game. L.A. leads the best-of-five series 2-0.
Things should cool off by game time, with temperatures in the low 80s at 8 p.m., and into the 70s in the later innings, Monahan said.
Game 3 of the NLDS is tonight at @SunTrustPark -- looking good! Warm before the game with temps in the mid to upper 80s at 6pm; into the 70s toward the late the innings.#ChopOn #ForEachOther @Braves pic.twitter.com/RTa6uNfcHU
