The official start of fall is a couple of days away, but it sure doesn’t feel like it.

All of this warm weather in metro Atlanta is here to stay, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The average high this time of year is 81 degrees.

“We’ve already exceeded that,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

Temperatures were 87 degrees in Atlanta, 85 in Blairsville and 88 in Griffin just after 6 p.m.

Atlanta is expected to reach highs of 88 degrees Tuesday, 87 degrees Wednesday and 85 degrees Thursday, Nitz said. Fall starts at 10:21 a.m. Thursday.

If you thought metro Atlanta saw its last day of temperatures in the 90s, think again.

After a high of 87 degrees Friday, metro Atlanta is expected to hit the 90-degree mark on Saturday, according to the latest forecast.

There is some good news.

“We have some pretty dry air in place,” Nitz said, “so (expect) a pleasant evening ahead.”
