Forecasters assure metro residents there’s still no need to make a run for bread, milk or batteries based on the snow in Tuesday’s forecast.
“An arctic front will move through North Georgia during the day on Tuesday, providing the chance for some light snow showers,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said Sunday.
“As temperatures fall quickly behind the front, and with the cold ground, it is possible there could be a dusting to an inch of snow in the North Georgia mountains and a dusting of snow — perhaps enough to whiten the ground a bit in a few spots — over metro Atlanta.”
Monahan added, “Moisture is very limited with this system, so any accumulation would be very light. It’s not impossible, though, there could be a slick spot or two in the metro.”
There’s a 30 percent chance of precipitation Tuesday, and the low is forecast for 32. Wednesday’s high is expected to be 30. However, residents will need to stay bundled up as the week progresses — lows will again drop into the teens when Wednesday rolls around.
