Sunday is expected to stay hot and mainly dry.
Rain chances through evening are 10 percent, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
“Sunday evening will be hot and mainly dry,” Monahan said.
And that’s not expected to change much heading into the July Fourth holiday.
Those running the AJC Peachtree Road Race Monday morning can expect warm and humid conditions without much hope for rain — at least not in the morning, Monahan said.
“It’ll be dry and partly cloudy,” he said.
By afternoon, a 20 percent chance of rain could bring isolated showers and storms, but the biggest chance for rain comes late Monday into Tuesday, Monahan said.
Scattered showers and storms are also possible Wednesday, but by Thursday the hot air will continue with a high of 92 degrees and only a 20 percent chance of rain.
Lows for the five-day forecast stay in the mid-70s and Monday’s high of 93 degrees is the high through Thursday.
Temperatures about 5:40 p.m. Sunday were 97 degrees in Atlanta, 89 degrees in Blairsville and 93 degrees in Griffin.
