Scattered storms, cold front have moved through Austin area

9 p.m. update: Showers have moved through the Austin area with some surrounding parts seeing up to an inch of rain, according to the Lower Colorado River Authority.

As of 8:50 p.m., radars showed that the showers had moved southeast stretching between College Station and San Marcos.

Camp Mabry saw about half an inch of rain while a quarter of an inch dropped at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.

The Elgin area saw up to an inch of rain.

The showers developed as a cold front moved through Central Texas. Overnight temperatures should drop into the low 50s and highs tomorrow will reach mid 70s. Tomorrow night will be chillier with temperatures in the 40s, according to the service.

Earlier: The National Weather Service reports that the Austin area will be subject to isolated and scattered thunderstorms through 9:30 p.m. The line of storms is moving southeast at 15 mph, dropping up to 1½ inches of rain.
