Saturday’s weather is expected to cooperate with an action-packed day of events in Atlanta.
That’s good news for those planning to attend the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Christmas Parade or the SEC Championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, since metro Atlanta should remain dry today.
“I know we’re off to a cloudy start, but I do expect a few more peaks of sunshine this morning, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Katie Walls said.
Temperatures are expected to reach 60 degrees today, so it won’t be too chilly for the parade, which starts just before 10:30 a.m.
The parade begins at Peachtree and 16th streets and travels south to 5th Street.
Those tailgating ahead of the SEC Championship between the University of Georgia and Louisiana State University will also enjoy dry conditions and moderate temperatures, Channel 2 reported.
The game kicks off at 4 p.m., and temperatures should be about 59 degrees by then. That’s about three degrees warmer than average for this time of year.
Georgia isn’t the only state school to play Saturday as Kennesaw State travels to Odgen, Utah, to take on Weber at 3 p.m. The weather will be nearly 20 degrees cooler there with a 20% chance of rain, according to local weather forecasts.
Sunday is expected to start off in the mid-40s but it won’t get quite as warm.
“Tomorrow is going to be running about 10 degrees cooler than today,” Walls said.
The projected high is 52 degrees, but temperatures will rebound into the 60s for the beginning of the workweek. The rain chance also increases to 40% Monday and 60% Tuesday.
