Pop quiz: Do you remember the last time you experienced temperatures below 70 degrees in metro Atlanta?

Stumped?

Yeah, we are, too.

There’s a reason for that.

“The temperature hasn’t fallen below 70 degrees for 56 consecutive days,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said Tuesday. “That’s a record-long streak.”

While he did not specify how long the previous record stood, Nitz said the streak should continue. Lows in the 70s are expected the rest of the month.

Is there any relief in sight?

Metro Atlanta, which is expected to hit the 90s for the 65th time Thursday, should get a break from the 90-degree highs starting Friday, Channel 2 reported.

According to the latest forecast, temperatures are expected to reach 89 degrees Friday, 87 degrees Saturday and 88 degrees Sunday.

We’ll take it.
