The pollen count in metro Atlanta moved into more troublesome territory Saturday. So the rain forecast for Saturday night and Sunday could bring relief to allergy sufferers.

The count Saturday was 2,258, according to atlantaallergy.com, by far the highest figure of the year.

A line of storms to the west “is going to be weakening, but it’s going to be pushing toward us by 3 o’clock (Saturday),” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

There could also be an “isolated stronger storm” overnight, but not on the level of the storms of earlier this week, Monahan said.

Sunday’s chance of rain is 70 percent, with a high of 75 expected.

Be prepared for gusty winds from 40 to 50 mph and perhaps some hail Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

About 5:30 p.m., temps were at 74 in Atlanta, 77 in Griffin and 68 in Blairsville.
