Though a few isolated showers are possible in parts of the state, rain isn’t likely to provide much relief from the heat.

Temperatures hit the upper 80s Friday afternoon and felt even hotter in North Georgia, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The current temperature is 88 degrees in Atlanta.

The weekend is expected to start out warm, muggy and dry, with little chance of rain until about midday Saturday, meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

Strong but isolated storms are expected about 3 p.m. Saturday.

Wind gusts could reach 60 mph, Nitz said. Heavy rain and lightning are also possible.
