Even as everyone prepares for Hurricane Irma, people in metro Atlanta should enjoy a nice weekend in the meantime.

A “picture perfect” weekend is ahead for the area with “a lot of sunshine on tap,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Katie Walls said Saturday morning.

Like Friday, Saturday should see a high of 80 degrees, slightly cooler than normal for this date. By 1 p.m., the thermometer should read 75.

Wind will be noticeable, with gusts up to 20 mph, Walls said.

Sunday will begin to reflect the oncoming hurricane. The expected high is 76, with wind gusts likely hitting 30 mph.

“Monday into Tuesday,” Walls said, “we’ll be dealing with heavy rains and gusts up to 60 mph.” Isolated tornadoes will be possible as the hurricane is expected to move into the metro area.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday, the temperature was at 78 in metro Atlanta.
