Rains stayed away from the metro Atlanta area Wednesday, but the rest of the week might not be as lucky.

Rain was expected to reach Atlanta about 4 p.m. but it largely remained in far North Georgia, according to Channel 2 Action News. Light showers reached the north metro area, but nothing severe.

Thursday morning’s commute should see lots of sun, Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

But keep that umbrella handy for afternoon showers when there is a 30 percent chance of rain.

Expect a 20 percent chance Friday. Highs are still expected to be in the 90s.

Currently, the temperature is 83 degrees. Atlanta reached a high of 89, tying the average high for this time of year, Channel 2 reported.

Temperatures will hover between the high 80s and low 90s into next week.
