The outer fringes of Hurricane Isaac dumped heavy rain across metro Atlanta on Tuesday, and more rain from the storm is likely Wednesday afternoon and again Thursday, forecasters said.

Rainfall totals from the outer rain bands that swept northward across Georgia on Tuesday included 1.48 inch in Peachtree City, 1.03 inch near Mableton and .98 inch at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist David Chandley said there is a chance of more “tropical downpours” Wednesday afternoon, with a repeat likely on Thursday.

Chandley put the chance of rain at 60 percent Wednesday and Thursday, decreasing to 30 percent by the weekend.

Highs will be in the mid-80s through Friday, and in the mid- to upper 80s Saturday and Sunday. Lows will be in the low 70s.
