Keep those air conditioners running, metro Atlanta.

Highs will reach the mid-90s each day through Sunday, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Temperatures were 96 degrees in Atlanta, 89 degrees in Blairsville and 96 degrees in Griffin just before 6:40 p.m.

Though temps won’t quite reach Tuesday’s high of 98 degrees, it will be hot. Atlanta is expected to hit a high of 95 degrees between 3 and 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Clayton County got some light showers early in the afternoon, but the main risk for the metro area is about 4 p.m. through 6 p.m.

“Drier air is coming in from the north slowly today, so that’s going to limit the number of storms that actually can develop as compared to what we saw yesterday,” meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

Showers that do produce storms will bring heavy downpours, lightning and gusty winds.

“The isolated storm risk tapers off after sunset, and then we’ll be dry overnight,” Nitz said.

Another round of isolated storms is expected Thursday afternoon.
