ATLANTA FORECAST:

Today: Clouds clearing. High: 51

Tonight: Mostly clear. Low: 36

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny. High: 61

Falling temperatures and high humidity could bring “freezing fog,” Channel 2 Action News Chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said Tuesday.

It didn’t quite feel like winter with mild temperatures throughout the day, but the official start to the season arrives at 5:44 a.m. Wednesday.

Temperatures were 41 degrees in Atlanta, 30 in Blairsville and 41 in Griffin just after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

“We’re going to end up with some clear skies going into the overnight,” meteorologist Karen Minton said. “And that will allow our temperatures to come down.”

Highs are expected to reach 57 degrees on Christmas Eve and 62 degrees on Christmas Day.

The next possibility of rain is a 20 percent chance on Christmas Eve, followed by a 30 percent rain chance Christmas Day.
