Temperatures are slow to cool Monday evening after hitting a high of 86 degrees.

Metro Atlanta came close to a record high of 91 degrees, Channel 2 Action News reported.

That record was set in 1899 and tied in 1947, according to the National Weather Service.

And we won’t be out of the 80s until after 10 p.m., meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

Currently, the temperature is 83 in Atlanta, Channel 2 reports.

The air quality hit an unhealthy level as well.

The pollen count is down from a moderate 27 Friday to a low 4 particles per cubic meter of air, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma.

According to the latest forecast, it will be hot all week.

Tuesday’s high is expected to reach 89 degrees. Atlanta hasn’t hit 90 since Sept. 25, 2016.

Highs the rest of the week are forecast to reach the upper 80s, Channel 2 reported.
