Be prepared for a lot of rain over the next several days, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Widespread rain with scattered showers in the metro Atlanta area were seen during the Monday afternoon commute, Chief Meteorlogist Glenn Burns said.

“Most of the rain is on the light side with a few embedded moderate showers from time to time continuing to 11 p.m. tonight,” Burns said.

Waves of rain will continue Monday evening into Tuesday and the risk of strong to severe storms may hit the west half of metro Atlanta sometime Tuesday evening, meteorologists said.

Some areas could get up to 1 inch of rain a day through Wednesday due to a cold front keeping metro Atlanta active with showers, morning fog and the potential for storms.

The rain will dry out later in the week and could turn to snow in the north Georgia mountains, according to Channel 2.

“As the rain moves out midweek, cold air moves in,” meteorologist Brad Nitz said. “Light mountain snow is possible Wednesday night.”

Highs are expected to reach the low- to mid- 60s each day through Wednesday.
