Rain that fell on some areas in the morning likely started clearing out in the afternoon on St. Patrick’s Day in metro Atlanta.

“This morning will be the best opportunity for rain showers across North Georgia,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Katie Walls said.

Conditions are such that the 60 percent chance of rain in the morning was reduced to 20 percent in the afternoon. But Walls said not to rule out an “isolated downpour” in the afternoon.

Temps should be warmer than usual through the weekend. Saturday and Sunday could see highs of 73, about 8 degrees above the average for the date.

And if you’re going to be getting into St. Patrick’s Day activities in the afternoon, the weather should be good for it. SSAbout 4 p.m., it was 71 degrees.

Sunday should be rain-free, at least until after sunset, Walls said.
