Scattered thunderstorms are expected to move north across Central Texas at 20 mph to 25 mph through 8 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Thunderstorms could yield rainfall rates of more than 2 inches per hour, resulting in evening rain totals of 1 to 2 inches. The service issued a hazardous weather outlook early Saturday morning for the Austin area and surrounding counties in South Central Texas.

Heavy rainfall is expected Saturday night and motorists are urged to use extra caution when driving into hazardous areas and avoid low water crossings. Isolated flooding could turn some roadways into dangerous or impassable areas, according to the service.

The National Weather Service is predicting a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms for Sunday with a 20 percent chance of storms predicted Sunday night. Monday is predicted to be mostly cloudy with no sign of storms.
