Even though rain has been a constant feature of forecasts over the last week, so have temperatures in the 90s.

That means there hasn’t been much change in drought conditions.

“The scattered rainfall amounts combined with the summertime heat is not offering any drought relief to Georgia,” meteorologist Brad Pugh said.

Much of metro Atlanta remained in an extreme drought Friday.

“According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, more than a third of Georgia is classified with at least moderate drought,” Pugh said.

That is expected to persist well into early fall.

When Lake Lanier, metro Atlanta's main water source, is full, water stands at 1,071 feet. Water stood at 1,066.75 feet on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. That's about the same level as it was last week (1,066.98 feet).
