After a cool start to Thursday, temperatures are now in the 60s.
It’s 65 degrees in Atlanta, 60 in Blairsville and 65 in Griffin.
But it won’t last long. Lows are supposed to be in the 50s due to northeasterly winds, Channel 2 Action News Chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said.
Expect temps to warm up again Friday, with highs in the 70s, Channel 2 reported. Lows are expected to be in the 40s that day.
A warming trend could bring temperatures closer to 80 degrees.
The sunshine won’t last long. Expect showers this weekend. There is a 30 percent chance of rain Saturday and a 70 percent chance Sunday.
But the weather isn’t expected to be as bad as it was Tuesday, when 171,000 Georgia Power customers ended up without power in metro Atlanta and North Georgia.
The National Weather Service confirmed two tornadoes touched down in parts of North Georgia. An EF-1 hit Jackson County and an EF-0 touched down in Barrow County.
The good news? Pollen is down from “extremely high” ranges to high.
The pollen count was 1,948 particles per cubic meter of air Wednesday, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma.
It dropped to 644 Thursday.
The count this time last year was 2,402, and last year’s season high was 4,107.
