Regardless of what your plans are this Saturday of Labor Day weekend — football, festivals or some other outdoor activity — the weather in metro Atlanta should suit you.
Temperatures likely will be below average Saturday afternoon, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Katie Walls.
“For this evening,” she said, “the weather is shaping up beautifully.”
And what an evening it is. Top-ranked Alabama and No. 3 Florida State begin their college football seasons in a showdown at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The expected temperature at the outset is 76 degrees. (Kickoff is at 8 p.m. on Channel 2)
So conditions should be nice for commuting to the game, tailgating or other pregame activities.
Ditto for people heading to Athens for the Georgia Bulldogs’ season opener against Appalachian State. (Kickoff is at 6:15 p.m.). The expected temperature at kickoff is 80 degrees.
Saturday’s forecast high of 82, the same as Friday’s, is 4 degrees below average for this date. There’s no rain in the forecast through Monday.
“You couldn’t ask for better weather here,” Walls said.
Shortly after 4:45 p.m., the temperature was 81 in metro Atlanta.
