With Hurricane Hermine moving away from Georgia as a tropical storm, college football fans in the Southeast will be able to leave the umbrellas at home today as the season gets underway with a slew of intriguing matchups.
Several local teams, including Georgia and Georgia Tech, are playing at neutral sites, including a rare college game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis., between LSU and Wisconsin. Georgia and Alabama fans won’t have to worry about the weather except before and after the game since they’re playing inside today at the Georgia Dome and Cowboys Stadium.
And for the Georgia Tech fans who made the trip to Ireland, a little rain likely won’t spoil a unique season opener.
