More sunshine and warmer temperatures are on the way Sunday afternoon, Channel 2 Action News meteorologists say.

While a little rain fell on Spalding and Lamar counties Sunday morning, drought conditions continue throughout the northern half of the state.

Haralson County, which is 35 miles west of downtown Atlanta, imposed the state's harshest watering restrictions on Sunday after declaring a Level III drought.

The cool, morning temperatures and clouds broke up afternoon, giving metro Atlanta residents a taste of what’s ahead this week.

Monday’s high is 84 degrees and temperatures in the 80s are expected in the week ahead, meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Temperatures were 79 degrees in Atlanta, 73 degrees in Blairsville and 79 degrees in Griffin just before 5 p.m.
