Thunderstorm warnings in parts of DeKalb, Fulton and Rockdale counties expired quickly, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

The line of storms bringing damaging winds into the metro Atlanta area will continue through Covington heading east, Nitz said.

Scattered showers will linger until midnight, he said.

Cooler air will bring temperatures in the mountains close to freezing overnight, Nitz said, but any storms should clear up before Wednesday morning brings partly cloudy skies.

Wet weather aside, winds out of the southwest brought metro Atlanta warm temperatures Tuesday, with highs in the low 70s.

Temperatures were 55 degrees in Atlanta, 50 degrees in Blairsville and 55 degrees in Griffin just before 10 p.m.

Wednesday’s high is 53 degrees in Atlanta, with a low of 39 degrees, Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said.

Lows will drop down to the 30s Thursday, also when the metro area will have its next chance for showers, meteorologist Karen Minton said.

Expect a 60 percent chance of showers Thursday night.
