After a sunny, breezy and cold Friday, showers could give way to a wintry mix early next week, Channel 2 Action News meteorologists said.

Meteorologist Brad Nitz said there’s a 40 percent chance for a wintry mix Monday, but temperatures are expected to stay above freezing Monday.

Atlanta will likely see some “light melting snow” that won’t accumulate, Nitz said.

On Tuesday, expect colder temperatures in the 30s and a 30 percent chance of a wintry mix of rain and flurries.

Temperatures were at 44 degrees in Atlanta, 39 degrees in Blairsville and 44 degrees in Griffin before 1:15 p.m. Friday

They will linger in the low 40s until about 3 p.m. and drop into the upper 20s later Friday, meteorologists said.

The cooling trend will continue through early next week, with lows below freezing and highs peeking into the low 50s.

Clouds will increase Saturday and thin some Sunday before showers hit Atlanta Monday, Nitz said.
