Feel that, metro Atlanta?

With days to go before the official start of spring, the area hit 84 degrees just after 4 p.m., surpassing the previous record of 82 degrees set in 2012, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

In LaGrange, it was even hotter.

“89 [degrees] right now,” Nitz said in a Twitter post. “Crazy.”

The pollen count was 478 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air Tuesday morning — nowhere near last year's season high of 6,152 on April 9 but still an indication of warmer weather.

But it won’t be quite this warm the rest of the week.

Winds, threatening to peak around 20 mph, were moving in at 12 mph Tuesday afternoon.

“Watch those trees around your homes,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.

Winds should calm in the evening, as temperatures start heading in the other direction.

Showers expected to wash through Atlanta at about 8 a.m. Wednesday will continue bring temperatures down to the low 70s by Thursday and the upper 60s by Friday.

Showers will again develop late Friday and continue into Saturday.

Highs will drop to the upper 50s Sunday.
