Gusty winds died down Wednesday after reaching 30 mph, according to Channel 2 Action News.

That wind helped spread smoke from North Georgia wildfires to parts of metro Atlanta.

“Smoke is really covering up Stone Mountain right now,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Winds are expected to die down as temperatures head into the 50s late Wednesday.

Temperatures were 60 degrees in Atlanta and Griffin and 50 in Blairsville just before 8 p.m.

Temps will continue decreasing later this week and drop to the 30s Sunday.

“And as we check out your five-day forecast, our temperatures will be in the upper 60s again for tomorrow, lots of sunshine though and cool in the mornings,” Minton said.

Highs are forecast to reach 69 degrees Thursday, 71 Friday and 63 Saturday.
