Banning Mills
Built around the remnants of old mill buildings on Snake Creek, this 1,500-acre Carroll County destination holds two Guinness World Records. It boasts the longest zipline canopy tour, with about 51,000 feet — almost 10 miles — of lines that zig and zag over the creek gorge and treetops. Several lines are appropriate for kids. Guinness also names the 140-foot (about 10 stories) climbing wall as the world's tallest freestanding climbing tower. The lodge at the Mills also can arrange kayaking, horseback riding, tennis, swimming and overnight stays in cabins or treehouse rooms, complete with spa tubs and balconies.
