Enjoy a day of fun for the entire family at Cobb County’s Winter Festival, scheduled for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21. The free event will include a holiday vendor market so you can finish up last-minute shopping, and fun activities are scheduled throughout the festival.

Gather the family to have photos taken with Parker, the Cobb County Parks mascot who will be dressed as Santa, and have fun participating in an all-ages Winter Scavenger Hunt. Dress in your ugliest Christmas sweater to compete in a contest and to make your photos with Santa funny and memorable.

If you or your children are feeling creative, register in advance for workshops that let you make a variety of holiday-themed items. Costs and age requirements vary for each, and the finished projects make unique holiday gifts.

At 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. workshops, attendees can learn the basics of glassblowing and get hands-on experience forming a glass ornament ($80 for Cobb County residents; $125 for nonresidents).

Kids ages 5-15 can sign up to paint and take home a vintage 4-inch ceramic Christmas tree night light at a workshop offered at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. ($17 for Cobb County residents; $25.50 for nonresidents.)

Young folks ages 12-18 can attend a workshop from 2:30 p.m.-4 p.m. where they can paint a 9-inch ceramic Christmas tree. The trees will be fired in a kiln and be ready for pickup the following week, along with a light kit and bulbs ($37 for Cobb County residents; $55.50 for nonresidents).

The festival will be at the Sewell Mill Library and Cultural Center, 2051 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta; parking is free. For more information or to register for workshops, visit cobbcounty.org/events/winter-festival-2024.
