A partnership between Samsung Austin Semiconductor and Edbacker, a funding platform for educators, will lead to the distribution $13,000 dollars to the Manor Independent School District.
Edbacker is an online platform designed to connect corporate partners directly to school districts. Through the program, Samsung will distribute $1,000 to each of the 13 schools in Manor ISD to support enrichment and education programs.
“Community support and partnership are a big part of who we are as a company, and Edbacker allows us to shine a light on that and make it easier to support our neighbors,” Catherine Morse, general counsel and senior director of public affairs for Samsung Austin Semiconductor, said in a news release.
Samsung operates one of North America’s biggest chip-manufacturing complexes in Austin. Samsung has made at least $15 billion in investments in Central Texas. The company employs about 2,600 people in Austin, where it produces, among other things, advanced low-power processors that are used in mobile devices such as phones and tablets.
Two other school districts in the Austin area are also working with Edbacker, bringing the total number of participating schools nationwide to 150.
