Bitstrips, a company that makes personalized emojis, will be purchased by Snapchat in a deal valued at $100 million in cash and stocks, according to Fortune. Previously, Bitstrips had raised about $11 million in venture funding.
The Hollywood Reporter says Apple is exploring developing an unscripted show (i.e. reality TV) to "highlight the stories of how Apple apps are developed." Apple wants to go into TV show development, following in the footsteps of Netflix and Amazon. But there is much snark over how Apple's first foray into this business is a show about ... Apple.
The Washington Post and others are reporting that Netflix admitted yesterday that for some customers using AT&T and Verizon, they slow down the streaming speed so as not to go over data caps. (Hat tip to Wall Street Journal for being the first to report this yesterday.)
