NAME: Asti LectroFan micro
WHAT IT DOES: Portable sound machine to help you sleep, plus Bluetooth speaker
COST: $34.95
WHAT’S HOT: If you have trouble sleeping, this palm-sized device may take you straight to dreamland. Its diminutive size is perfect for traveling or for those with limited space. LectroFan Micro features 10 different sounds to mask noise and lull you to sleep — five fan sounds, four white noise sounds and one ocean sound. Its swivel speaker can be rotated to face left or right, or collapsed into the unit so that it is facing straight up, making the entire gadget about 2-inches-by-2 inches. There are three buttons: on/off, and volume up and down, each of which has two functions. The volume adjusts in 1-decibel increments and can be turned up louder than you might expect from the unit’s small size. When not being used as a sleep machine, LectroFan’s Bluetooth converts it into a mini speaker with a range of 33 feet to stream music from your phone, tablet or computer. Pairing was simple and quick with an iPhone. Fully charged, the manufacturer says you will receive up to 16 hours of sleep sounds or six hours of streaming audio. A micro USB cable is included for recharging the unremovable lithium-ion battery. Available in white or black.
WHAT’S NOT: The double-function buttons make it a little confusing figuring out the controls. The tiny red light, which indicates the unit is still charging, is very difficult to see in a lit room and the micro USB cable is only a foot long.
