Georgia will kick off the 2017 season today when it faces Appalachian State at Sanford Stadium.

Appalachian State lost its 2016 season opener to Tennessee in overtime, but bounced back to finish 10-3 and tied for first in the Sun Belt conference along with Arkansas State.

Returning for the Bulldogs are QB Jacob Eason, who enters his sophomore season after leading the Bulldogs to an 8-5 record and a Liberty Bowl win over TCU as a freshman. Senior running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel lead an experienced backfield.

As a junior, Chubb rushed for 1,130 yards and eight touchdowns and Michel rushed for 840 yards and four touchdowns. Both players had a TD reception in 2016.
