The Deshaun Watson era in Houston has officially begun.

On his 22nd birthday on Thursday, the rookie out of Clemson earned his first start over four-year veteran Tom Savage and rushed for a 49-yard touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Near the end of the second quarter, Watson scrambled out of the pocket and through openings down the right sideline to put the Texans up, 10-3.

After being congratulated by his teammates in the end zone, the former Gainesville High School quarterback waved to the camera.

Watson threw 15-for-24 for 125 yards and rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on five carries in the Texans’ 13-9 win at Cincinnati's Paul Brown Stadium.

The Texans next game is against the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Mass. on Sept. 24 at 1 p.m.
