Georgia freshman cornerback Reggie Wilkerson will miss the 2013 season after undergoing the first of two knee surgeries Friday in Athens.
Wilkerson, who was injured during voluntary passing drills with teammates earlier this week, had the meniscus in his right knee repaired Friday and will undergo a second surgery at a later date to reconstruct his anterior cruciate ligament, according to UGA.
Wilkerson will be redshirted this year and then will have four seasons of eligibility remaining. He is expected to make a full recovery, UGA said.
A member of the Bulldogs’ 2013 signing class, Wilkerson, from Ocala, Fla., enrolled at UGA in January and participated in spring practice.
