THREE KEY MATCHUPS: Falcons at Dolphins

Falcons RT Lamar Holmes vs. Dolphins RDE Oliver Vernon: Holmes is trying to fill the hole created by the knee and foot injuries to Sam Baker. He has struggled in his first two starts at right tackle. He played left tackle in college at Southern Mississippi and had seven snaps at left tackle last season. Vernon has played 84 snaps this season and has five quarterback pressures, half of a sack and one assisted tackle.

Falcons WR Julio Jones vs. Dolphins CB Brent Grimes: Jones is the Falcons' best weapon with Roddy White slowed by a high ankle sprain, tight end Tony Gonzalez off to a slow start and running back Steven Jackson out with a hamstring injury. The Falcons force-fed Jones the ball against the Rams, and he caught 11 of the 14 passes thrown his way for 182 yards and a touchdown. Grimes is having a strong start after missing last season with an Achilles injury. He had a game-saving interception in the fourth quarter last week against the Colts.

Falcons CBs Desmond Trufant and Robert Alford vs. Dolphins WR Mike Wallace: Trufant starts as the right corner. Asante Samuel missing practice time with thigh injury, which may actually be a hamstring. Alford took over for him last week and started the season opener. Samuel has played only seven snaps this season. Trufant and Alford could spend time covering the speedy Wallace, who had 115 yards from scrimmage last week against the Colts.
