Chairman Paul Parilla, vice chairman Jay Binder and treasurer Bitsy Kelley have resigned from the USA Gymnastics Board of Directors, USA Gymnastics announced Monday.

USA Gymnastics said in a statement on Twitter the resignations of the three executive leaders were effective Sunday and the Board of Directors will identify an interim chairperson until a permanent selection can be found.

“We support their decisions to resign at this time,” USA Gymnastics president and CEO Kerry Perry said in a statement. “We believe this step will allow us to more effectively move forward in implementing change within our organization... As the board identifies its next chair and fills the vacant board positions, we remain focused on working every day to ensure that our culture, policies and actions reflect our commitment to those we serve.”

The resignations were effective after former USA gymnasts including Aly Raisman made statements at the sentencing hearing of former USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar last week.

In her statement, Raisman called out Perry, USA Gymnastics and the United States Olympic Committee for turning a blind eye to Nassar's sexual abuse of countless minors over the years and making empty promises even as Nassar sits on trial.
