The Silverbacks’ Pedro Mendes scored the NASL goal of the year in voting by the league’s fans.

The results were announced Friday.

Mendes’ 35-yard blast came during the Spring season and beat Tampa Bay goalkeeper Andrew Fontein, who was off his line.

Mendes was one of several Silverbacks honored on Friday. The Silverbacks will host New York on Saturday in the Soccer Bowl, the NASL’s championship game.

Goalkeeper Joe Nasco, defender Martyn Lancaster and midfielder Richard Menjivar were named to the NASL’s Best 11.

Nasco posted four shutouts in 19 games. Lancaster, the team captain, played in 23 games and scored one goal. Menjivar had two goals and two assists in 21 games.
