Atlanta’s chances of landing an expansion franchise in Major League Soccer aren’t being affected by other cities also expressing interest, according to Dan Courtemanche, the league’s vice president for communications.

“Atlanta remains a great prospect for MLS expansion,” he said.

He said that league officials continue to have positive discussions with representatives from Atlanta.

MLS Commissioner Don Garber reportedly met with San Antonio officials Tuesday to discuss their interest in securing a franchise.

The league will reach 21 teams in 2015 and hopes to reach 24 by 2020. Several cities, including Miami, Minneapolis and San Antonio have expressed an interest in securing an expansion franchise.
