1. Falcons' Collins suspended 10 games for PED violation
The Atlanta Falcons announced on Sunday afternoon cornerback Jalen Collins was suspended without pay for the first 10 games of the 2017 season due to violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy. 2. Atlanta United ties Sporting KC
In the final minutes of Sunday night's match against Sporting KC, Atlanta United's Jacob Peterson scored in extra time to tie the game 1-1. The late goal makes two-straight matches Atlanta has scored in the final minutes after Hector Villalba scored late against Orlando City on July 21. Atlanta's next match will be on Aug. 23 against D.C. United at RFK Stadium.
3. Braves fall to Marlins
In Sunday's series finale against the Miami Marlins at SunTrust Park, the Atlanta Braves lost 4-1. Braves rookie pitcher Lucas Sims allowed four runs in the first inning off back-to-back home runs. In six innings pitched, Sims allowed six hits, four runs and two walks with three strikeouts. The Braves have Monday off and will start a two-game home series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday at 7:35 p.m.
4. Recap of Falcons training camp on Sunday
The Atlanta Falcons completed the ninth day of training camp on Sunday. During practice, linemen Jack Crawford and Ryan Schraeder left the field separately as a medical precaution, coach Dan Quinn told media. 5. Tennessee alumni Justin Gatlin, Christian Coleman defeat Usain Bolt in 100m
Former University of Tennessee track stars Justin Gatlin and Christian Coleman won gold and silver respectively in the 100 meters at the World Athletics Championships in London on Saturday. The former Volunteers defeated Usain Bolt of Jamacia, who earned the bronze. Coleman is from Atlanta and is a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School.
